Alum Cynthia Wilcox (SSW’67) Publishes ‘Simple Therapy Snippets’

In her new book Simple Therapy Snippets, BU School of Social Work alum Cynthia Wilcox, LICSW (SSW ’67) shares knowledge gained from decades as a clinical social worker. Simple Therapy Snippets gives readers what Wilcox calls “therapeutic tidbits” and “tasty bites” of wisdom on life, relationships, communication, feelings, and authenticity that are light and humorous but profound.

Harvard Medical School’s Martha Stark, MD describes the book as “a handy guide to ‘living well,’” adding, “Even the titles of some of the tidbits—‘No Is a Full Sentence’ and ‘The Courage to Live in the Space of Not Knowing’—will whet your appetite for making a commitment to living, going forward, with more clarity, courage, conviction, and consciousness.”

The book, published in January 2023 by Stillwater River Publications, is designed for individuals seeking a unique take on self-help texts and pursuing their own path to living well, as well as to therapists and clinicians looking to refresh their approach and perspective.

Cynthia Wilcox received her MSW degree from BUSSW 1967. After working at a mental health clinic, she opened a private practice that became a full-time commitment in 1977. She continues to work part-time as a telehealth provider from her home in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
