The Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Fellowship consists of a diverse team of SPH students who are committed to advancing JEDI initiatives at BUSPH by acting as paid consultants to the School, to advise on how to design and implement best practices to support our community. The Fellows support faculty, staff, and students to ensure the school’s curricula, course materials, trainings, and research activities are inclusive, accessible, identity-affirming, and representative of the broad world in which public health functions.
Our Purpose
Through this Fellowship, student leaders are assigned to projects across the School to consult on various JEDI initiatives, such as advising on curriculum, supporting research, and reviewing courses. The Fellowship aims to engage students with a broad spectrum of backgrounds and identities, including students of color, indigenous students, queer and trans students, international students, students with disabilities, students who are neurodivergent, and other groups who have traditionally been underrepresented in academic and research settings. Centering the voices of historically marginalized students, and appropriately compensating them for doing so, is central to advancing DEIJ at BUSPH.
Become a JEDI Fellow
Are you passionate about enacting positive change within BUSPH? Apply to be a JEDI Fellow. Each school year in the fall, we will have a new cohort of fellows. For Fall 2024, applications will be due by May 15th, 2024.
As a JEDI Fellow, you will be assigned to projects throughout the academic year that have been submitted by the School community and then reviewed, selected, and approved by the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice Committee.
Students in the fellowship program will be provided with trainings and support by Dean Craig Andrade throughout their projects.
Fellows are compensated at a rate of $20 per hour, with an estimated 5-10 hours of work per week for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Fellows will be part of a cohort with required monthly meetings, which will be included in compensation.
