- Faculty & Staff
- July 2, 2024
Dear colleagues,
Faculty at SPH have access to a wide variety of opportunities for faculty development. The broad portfolio of programs and resources, which are described in the Faculty Handbook, includes our Faculty Development Seminar Series (FDSS). The FDSS is updated each semester to include seminars and workshops from within SPH and from across the University.
As we begin summer, many offices across the university are taking a programming break and so we will also pause our monthly notes. Throughout the summer, we encourage you to utilize the faculty development resources on the following websites:
- Terrier eDevelopment: a vast library of training resources, from adapting to change to software and technology training
- Office of Diversity and Inclusion: diversity, equity, and inclusion resources, including events and affinity groups
- Faculty and Staff Assistance Office: faculty support resources, including self-care and work-life balance
- Center for Teaching & Learning: faculty development related to teaching and grant opportunities
- Office of Research: building research skills, how to pitch your research ideas to funders, and discussions of breakthrough research from across BU
- BUMC Faculty Development and Diversity: interdisciplinary resources for networking, professional development, and wellness
Additionally, we will soon circulate the latest RFA for the BUSPH Pilot Program. We have greatly expanded the pilot offerings over the past few years and encourage applications from doctoral students, post-docs, research scientists, and faculty of all ranks. The next submission deadline will be in early September 2024.
Please reach out to sphfro@bu.edu with any questions or if you would like to add any seminars/workshops to the Faculty Development Calendar.
Sincerely,
Mike McClean, ScD
Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Advancement
