The professors and the friendships I developed while at BUSPH.

I had two – Allan R. Meyers and Kathleen Gallager
How did your practicum or education experience at BUSPH shape your career goals?
The classes and professors shaped my career goals around infectious disease epidemiology and informatics subject areas. I was lucky enough to many professors that challenged and mentored my learning goals while I was completing my MPH in a part-time capacity.
What advice can you lend to students as they prepare for the workforce?
Create strong friendships and develop networks while you are in school. These relationships will help in your professional networking and career adventures. I would also suggest that you embrace a life long learning attitude knowing that professional skills need to be updated and expanded all the time. I would also suggest finding professional organizations that you could join while in school to further your learning and career interests – don’t wait till you graduate!
In one sentence, what does public health mean to you?
Public health means to me about being part of a team of professionals that are involved in educating and tracking infectious disease in Massachusetts to help citizens understand and prevent the spread of disease and improve the quality of life of all residents of the Commonwealth.
