Professor Delivers Lecture to Boston Public School Students

Communicating Climate Summit
Patricia Fabian, associate professor of environmental health, and Barbara Espinosa Barrera (SPH’23), environmental justice & health equity organizer at the local nonprofit GreenRoots, participated in a panel on local action to combat climate misinformation during the inaugural Media Innovation & Social Impact Summit on November 7. The summit, which focused on communicating climate, marked the official launch of BU’s Center for Media Innovation & Social Impact, a new hub at BU’s College of Communication for applied research at the intersection of media, democracy, and civic trust.

Throughout the summit, the Massachusetts nonprofit Bow Seat: Creative Action for Conservation displayed art created by teens from around the world as part of an educational initiative called the Ocean Awareness Contest. Graduate Student Life (GSL) Activities
In celebration of Halloween, students enjoyed lattes and made paper lanterns with GSL on October 30. Students then came together to bead bracelets with GSL on November 13.
