Less Seen/Less Heard.
Less Seen/Less Heard: Stories from the Margins is a podcast brought to you by the Boston University School of Public Health Activist Lab. These conversations shine a spotlight on and offer a megaphone to communities that have been marginalized, othered, disempowered, and in many ways removed from our public health practice, policymaking, and acceptance in society. We will cover a broad spectrum of topics that may be familiar and sometimes uncomfortable. Thank you for leaning in with us.
Meet the Host
As a critical care and public health nurse at then-Boston City Hospital/Boston Medical Center in the late ‘80s and ‘90s, Craig Andrade (SPH’06,’11) grew to know his patients well—because he saw them again and again. This experience, coupled with a lifelong desire to empower marginalized communities he called home, propelled him to pursue service in health promotion, health administration, health education, and state government that enabled him to “serve” people at a population level, by tackling structural inequities through changes in systems, policy and practice. Now, Craig is Associate Dean of Practice and Director of the Activist Lab at Boston University’s School of Public Health (SPH) where he serves to catalyze and encourage SPH’s public health practice portfolio locally and globally among all members of the school community, including faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community partners.
