Kilachand Living and Learning Community Requirements
All Kilachand Honors College first-year students live on designated specialty floors at Kilachand Hall. The residential experience is central to the Kilachand community and our alumni regularly share that the Kilachand Living and Learning Community was one of their most valuable BU experiences!
This requirement extends to all Kilachand Honors College first-year students including those enrolled in major programs housed on West Campus (CFA, SHA) and Varsity Athletes. If you are in incoming student who requires alternate housing or accommodations for medical reasons you should engage with the BU Office of Disability & Access Services.
After their first year, Kilachand may live wherever they choose and many continuing students opt to remain in the Kilachand Living Learning Communities at Kilachand Hall and Kilachand House.

BU Housing Information:
Before reading on about the Kilachand Living and Learning Communities, please review the BU Housing Room Selection resources to understand the types of room selection processes, dates and deadlines, and roommate selection.
Please review below the Kilachand Honors College Specialty Community options for Kilachand students for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Please note that current Kilachand Honors College students do not need to apply to the Kilachand Living and Learning Communities at Kilachand Hall or Kilachand House via a Specialty Application. If space permits, you will automatically see these communities as options for you during room selection as a continuing student.
For Continuing Kilachand Students: Kilachand Specialty Options
Kilachand Hall
Kilachand Hall serves as the primary specialty community for first-year Kilachand students. Students in the class of 2028 will be assigned suites on the 2nd and 3rd floors of Kilachand Hall as well as the 4th floor, which is shared with the Writers Corridor specialty area.
Current Kilachand students on the 2nd – 3rd floor will not be able to participate in same room selection as these spaces are reserved for first-year students. Should you choose to remain in Kilachand Hall, you should participate in the internal selection process to select higher floors in Kilachand Hall.
If you intend to live in a suite comprised entirely of Kilachand Honors College students, you may opt to live in the Kilachand Living and Learning Community for upperclassmen on floors 4-6 of Kilachand Hall. If you intend to live in a mixed rooming group with students who are not enrolled in Kilachand Honors College but would like to live at Kilachand Hall, floors 7 and 8 are open to you and the rest of the BU community.
Kilachand House
As always, continuing Kilachand Honors College students have the option to reside in Kilachand House at 117 Bay State Road. This small brownstone of about 25 beds has an intimate feel for those seeking community in a quieter space. Kilachand House is a mixed-gender space comprised of double and triple rooms with restrooms on each of the five floors.

Specialty Applications
Kilachand Honors College students should not complete a specialty community application to live in Kilachand Honors College specialty housing. All continuing Kilachand Honors College students will see Kilachand Hall specialty floors and Kilachand House as options available to them during room selection as space permits.
Pull-ins
Per usual, suites on Kilachand Honors College specialty floors for upperclassmen (Kilachand Hall floors 4-6) and in Kilachand House are intended for rooming groups comprised exclusively of Kilachand Honors College students. Kilachand Honors College students who seek to live with friends who are not enrolled in Kilachand Honors College and wish to remain in a Kilachand residential community may find the 7th or 8th floors of Kilachand Hall suitable.
Room Selection
Kilachand Honors College students who currently live on floors 2-3 of Kilachand Hall will not be permitted to choose their same room for the coming academic year as these spaces are reserved for first-year Kilachand students.
Kilachand Honors College students who currently live on the 4th, 5th, or 6th floors of Kilachand Hall or in Kilachand House may opt to remain in their same rooms during same room selection and remain with roommates who are also enrolled in Kilachand Honors College or pull other Kilachand Honors College students into their space.
Students living elsewhere in Kilachand Hall or at Kilachand House who wish to remain in their current building but select a different room may do so during internal room selection (only for the building they are currently residing in). Kilachand Honors College students who do not currently live in any of these spaces but wish to do so during the coming academic year may select into these specialty spaces during community selection as space permits. These spaces are not open to the BU community during room selection and are reserved specifically for Kilachand Honors College students.
For Incoming Kilachand Students (Class of 2028): Housing Information
The first-year residential experience is central to the Kilachand Honors College community. All first-year Kilachand Honors College students are required to live on designated floors within Kilachand Hall. The space includes suite-style rooms, offers a shared kitchen on the first floor, and is located in historic Kenmore Square just steps from Fenway Park.
Kilachand Hall
Kilachand Hall offers single-gender suites comprised of two bedrooms which house two to three students each, and all suites offer one shared bathroom. Kilachand Honors College first-year students will be assigned to suites on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors, with additional suites on floors 4-6 available for continuing Kilachand students. Suites on the 7th and 8th floors are open to the BU community. Resident Assistants on floors 2-4 of Kilachand Hall will be upperclassmen in Kilachand Honors College who work to support our first-year students as they acclimate to college life.
Selecting a Residence
Kilachand students should simply select Kilachand Hall as their first choice on their New Student Housing Application. The survey is set up to require multiple options, so while those other options do not apply, you can simply put any other residence as your other choices. BU Housing receives a list of all incoming Kilachand students and will assign your rooms accordingly.
Roommates
As with all BU students, Kilachand Honors College students are assigned roommates based on their responses in the New Student Housing Application, simply from a smaller pool comprised only of first-year Kilachand students.
Students who have already identified their Kilachand Honors College roommate may request their roommate on their New Student Housing Application. Students with roommate requests must each request one another; requests where only one student indicates preference and the other does not are not granted. While these requests are not guaranteed, BU Housing makes every effort to accommodate roommate requests.
Please note that first-year students can request to live only with other Kilachand Honors College students in the Kilachand Honors College specialty communities, meaning first-year Kilachand students will not be granted a roommate request if their intended roommate is not enrolled in Kilachand Honors College.
Kilachand Housing Resources for incoming students (Class of 2028)
