The arts at BU are a vibrant and vital part of the BU experience. Each year thousands of students take arts courses, while the campus is host to hundreds of arts events, most of which are free and open to the public. Add to that more than 70 arts groups through student activities, and you have a university that is alive with creativity!

The BU Arts Initiative in the Office of the Provost is committed to ensuring that the arts are deeply embedded in the fabric of the university by providing free access for students to local museums and the orchestra, presenting prestigious artists, and developing opportunities that encourage students to participate in the arts.

BU Bands
There are over 200 members on the BU Bands rosters representing every undergraduate school and college on BU’s campus. All groups provide a fun and exciting ways for non-music majors and music majors alike to have the band experience while pursuing degrees in their disciplines.

Boston University Tanglewood Institute
Boston University Tanglewood Institute (BUTI) is recognized internationally as a premier summer training program for aspiring young musicians and is the only program of its kind associated with one of the world’s great orchestras, the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

Dance
Through BU’s Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance program students can train in a variety of dance styles including Belly Dancing and Aerial Dance. Students can also take dance for credit, and even graduate with a minor in dance.

Wheelock Family Theatre
Wheelock Family Theatre (WFT) at Boston University is an award-winning, professional theatre committed to producing inclusive and accessible shows that provide a shared experience for families. WFT also runs a year-round, dynamic education program for students from pre-K to grade 12 that teaches theatre skills connected to overall child development.
