Boston University School of Social Work is nationally recognized for its outstanding research and training contributions to social work practice and policy. Current projects of faculty include research and training in the areas of aging, children and families, health and health policy, mental health, and substance abuse. The Institute for Geriatric Social Work and the Center for Addictions Research and Services are engaged in exciting research and training, at the national, state, and local levels.
The School of Social Work offers ongoing colloquia and seminars on research, teaching, and contemporary social work issues. The Social Welfare Analysis Colloquium provides a forum for faculty and doctoral students to engage with cutting edge research through a weekly colloquium series where scholars present working papers across many fields of study, including: social work, political science, urban planning, sociology, economics, history, geography, and anthropology.
