Prof. Judith Scott Elected Treasurer of SRCD Black Caucus

BU School of Social Work proudly announces that Prof. Judith Scott has been elected Treasurer of the Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD) Black Caucus for the 2025–2027 term. Her appointment began at the recent SRCD Biennial Meeting held in Minneapolis. 

Founded in 1973, the SRCD Black Caucus is a multidisciplinary organization committed to advancing the development and well-being of Black children and families. The Caucus plays a vital role in shaping inclusive research, supporting Black scholars, and promoting equitable representation within SRCD and the broader field of child development. 

As treasurer, Prof. Scott will contribute to the leadership of an organization whose mission includes: 

  • Providing networking opportunities for Black researchers and others committed to studying Black children’s development 
  • Building capacity through professional development for both emerging and established Black scholars 
  • Interfacing with SRCD to ensure representational governance and promote research on Black child development globally 
  • Connecting with organizations engaged in advocacy, research, and policy to enhance child development and well-being 

Prof. Scott brings her deep expertise in child and adolescent mental health, trauma, and resilience among marginalized populations to this role. Her leadership will help strengthen the Caucus’s efforts to elevate research that centers Black children and families and foster a more inclusive academic community.
