Linda Sprague Martinez Named Assistant Director of Research at the BU Center for Antiracist Research

Boston University’s Center for Antiracist Research has named BU School of Social Work Chair of Macro Practice and Associate Professor Linda Sprague Martinez as their new assistant director of research.
Prof. Sprague Martinez specializes in tackling health inequities through social work. As a result, community-based participatory research (CBPR) and youth-led participatory action research (YPAR) are central to her work. In addition, her history in municipal and state government and as an adolescent mental health provider has empowered her to lead collaborations that engage diverse communities of color and low-income residents in community planning and intervention development.
The Center for Antiracist Research, launched in June 2020, was founded by race scholar Ibram X. Kendi to address pervasive problems of racial injustice guided by a world-class, multi-disciplinary group of researchers and practitioners. As the Center develops its first programs and partnerships, Sprague Martinez will work on building the affiliate program, a network of experts and innovators that will form a core component of the Center.
