Build Community & Connect for Change: The Power of Panel Discussions & Networking

Join BU School of Social Work (BUSSW) and the Greater Boston Chapter of the Association of Black Social Workers (GBABSW) for a compelling panel discussion about the importance of making connections. The panel discussion, Connections Matter, will feature special guest Melissa Smith Haley, MSW, LMSW, 14th president, immediate past president, as well as Malaka Mims, LICSW GBABSW president and BUSSW lecturer, the GBABSW membership and student affairs committees, and BUSSW GBABSW student members. This panel discussion will be moderated by BUSSW Director of Career Services, Alumni and External Relations. The discussion will explore: 

  • Building Your Professional Network 
  • Prioritizing Professional Self Care 
  • Advancing Student and Practitioner Education and Training 
  • Showcasing Research and Expertise 
  • Empowered People of African Ancestry 

Melissa Smith Haley has held many high-profile roles at the National Association of Black Social Workers (NABSW) and Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Xavier University, a Master of Social Work from Clark Atlanta University, and is currently a doctoral candidate in the social work program at Morgan State University.
