10/11: Worcester Hybrid Program Presents Self-Care in Social Work Webinar with Prof. Haslam Straughan

Did you know that the NASW Code of Ethics has a new mandate requiring social workers to practice self-care? Join Boston University School of Social Work’s (BUSSW) Worcester Hybrid Program for a free interactive webinar discussing the mandate and the ways the social work profession is responding to institutional barriers. 

The workshop will be led by Hope Haslam Straughan, a clinical assistant professor and coordinator of the dual degree program in social work and theology at BUSSW. She will explore various principles of self-care and provide examples for individual and collective practices.

1.5 social work continuing education credits will be available to social workers licensed in Massachusetts (approval pending).

Hope Haslam Straughan joined BUSSW in 2018 after serving as dean for the School of Social Work, Leadership, and Youth Advocacy at Wheelock College. In addition to her roles as a professor and dual degree coordinator at BUSSW, she is the founder of Compassion.Mercy.Justice at Newton Covenant Church and a board member for Foster Hope, FAMILY, Inc., and KEY, Inc. 

The Worcester Hybrid Program is a part-time BUSSW Master of Social Work (MSW) program based in Worcester, Mass., that combines in-person and online learning. The innovative program offers clinical and macro majors, two track options, and four specialization options, ensuring that each student’s education is tailored to their goals and experience.
