Julia Craig Bond

Assistant Professor, Epidemiology - Boston University School of Public Health

Biography

Dr. Julia Bond is an epidemiologist whose research centers an often-overlooked aspect of health: sexual pleasure and wellness. Her work focuses on advancing positive aspects of sexual health as holistic, measurable, and valid domains of public health inquiry. She is particularly interested in improving how sexual function, pleasure and behavior are captured in epidemiologic research, with the goal of developing more valid and inclusive measures.

Her recent work has centered on sexual function among female pregnancy planners. Her dissertation work examining the relationship between sexual dysfunction and time to pregnancy was recognized with the 2024 Tyroler Student Prize Paper Award by the Society for Epidemiologic Research. She is continuing this line of work as the PI of an NIH Director's Early Independence Award focused on sexual function from preconception to postpartum.
