MPHA Conference 2021.

MPHA’s virtual Annual Conference & Meeting: Creating Health Equity by Building Community Power will be held virtually on November 16, 2021, from 10 AM to 1 PM. The Activist is a proud supporter of MPHA and we hope you will be able to join us for this educational and inspiring event. Working together, we can create a healthier and more equitable Massachusetts where everyone can thrive.

Xavier Morales, executive director of the Praxis Project, will be the keynote speaker who will be discussing the new Social Determinants of Public Health framework recently developed by the Praxis Project, and their focus on community power building as a strategy for achieving health equity. Xavier is a longtime advocate for community-driven initiatives to achieve health equity and environmental justice. Taking an expansive view of what constitutes good health and community wellness, he works in partnership to enable opportunities across the social determinants of health.

Following his presentation, there will be a panel discussion with organizations doing power building work on the ground, including Human Impact Partners, a national leader in this area. Project Director Megan Gaydos will share insights and lessons learned from their Power-Building Partnerships for Health initiative.

There will be an optional afternoon session specifically for students focused on advocacy and activism. Please indicate your interest in this session in your registration.

All BUSPH community members are invited to attend the conference free of charge with the below registration form.
