In its first collaborative custom program with China, Population Health Exchange (PHX) welcomed 20 public health officials and physicians in hospital leadership roles from across Shanxi Province to SPH November 27 to December 1 to learn about American health policy.

Led by Michael Stein, professor and chair of health law, policy & management, SPH faculty gave lectures on topics including federalism, access to care, care coordination, social determinants of health, prevention, insurance, and payment for care. Participating faculty included Alan Sager, David K. Jones, Michael Ulrich, Christine Gunn, and Cassie Ryan.

Custom program offerings from PHX, SPH’s lifelong learning initiative, are developed in collaboration with SPH faculty to fit an organization’s or group’s specific learning objectives. With a focus on offering robust skill development and knowledge-building experiences, PHX delivers programs for professionals from across disciplines and at all levels of experience.

“People are drawn to our custom work—whether it be here on campus, at a client site, or delivered online—because we work with them step by step to ensure we are addressing their unique needs and goals,” says Leslie Tellalian, director of lifelong learning and of PHX.

“We learned a lot through this program and hope this is the beginning of a long partnership,” says program participant Meiqin Yan, assistant director of Shanxi Children’s Hospital.
