Professor Joins Wounded Warrior Project Board.
Jonathan Woodson, professor of health law, policy & management, has been appointed to the board of directors for the Wounded Warrior Project.
A vascular surgeon and former assistant secretary for health affairs for the US Department of Defense, Woodson leads the University-wide Institute for Health System Innovation and Policy, based in the Questrom School of Business. He is also a professor of surgery at the School of Medicine.
Woodson, who also holds the rank of brigadier general in the US Army Reserves, served from 2010 to 2016 as assistant secretary of defense for health affairs in the US Department of Defense. There, he was the principal advisor to the Secretary of Defense for all health and force health protection issues while ensuring the effective execution of the Department’s medical mission. Woodson oversaw the medical readiness for all military medical services, including the evacuation and treatment of those deployed during combat operations, those treated in worldwide military health facilities, and those entitled to medical treatment through TRICARE services worldwide.
Prior to his time in the Department of Defense, Woodson served as professor of surgery and associate dean for students, diversity, and multicultural affairs at the School of Medicine, and was a senior attending vascular surgeon at Boston Medical Center.
Woodson is one of four new members of the Wounded Warrior Project board of directors.

The Wounded Warrior Project a national, nonpartisan organization headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida. The organization’s purpose is to raise awareness and to enlist the public’s aid for the needs of injured service members, to help injured service members aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs.
