Last chance to sign up for Thursday’s Valentine’s Day Chocolate Bake-Off!

The Valentine’s Day Chocolate Bake-Off returns for its 13th year at BUSPH, an annual tradition led by chocolate connoisseur Leonard Glantz and a panel of discerning judges. As in years past, the judges will award a first prize in each of five categories. The judges will also name the “Not Just a Passing Glantz” and Vox Populi awards.

Date: Thursday, February 14 starting at 1:30 p.m.
Location: Board Room, Talbot Building

Entry rules:

    • All entries must have some chocolate in them. Time-honored rules stipulate that white chocolate is not considered chocolate. (If it is not brown, it is not chocolate. While carob is brown, it is still not chocolate.)
    • Entries will be divided into five categories:
      • Cakes;
      • Tarts/pies;
      • Cookies/brownies;
      • Other confections;
      • Guilt-free.
      • Sign up in your local kitchen or e‐mail Chris Paal (cpaal@bu.edu) with your name, the name of your entry, and the category you are entering. Please say if your entry contains nuts or milk products or is gluten-free. Each submission will be assigned a number.

      This is a serious, double‐blind competition so don’t tell your colleagues what you are making!

      Bring your entry to the Board Room by 11:30 a.m., arranged as you want it presented, with your name on the bottom of the dish.

      Judging will take place from 12 to 1 p.m. At that time, the contest entrants will be admitted and winners announced. At approximately 1:30 p.m., the doors will open for everyone else to come in and try the tempting creations.

      Exact timing depends on the stamina of the judges.
