Each year, SPER holds an annual meeting immediately preceding the meeting of the Society for Epidemiologic Research (SER). The SPER meeting — to be held in Boston in June 2013 — includes a popular Student Methods Workshop, panel discussions, plenary session, scientific presentations, and poster sessions. As president, Werler will plan the 2014 meeting in Seattle.
The work presented at SPER’s annual meeting represents the cutting edge of research in pediatric and perinatal epidemiology, according to the Society’s website. The objective of the Society is to foster pediatric and perinatal epidemiologic research, which includes the study of any factors that influence maternal health and the health and development of children, from their conception through their adolescence.
