Faculty Luncheon Workshop: Structuring Group Work in the Classroom for Maximum Success

Sophie Godley, clinical assistant professor of community health sciences

Thursday, November 15, 2012
12:00 – 1:30 PM
Founders’ Room, Talbot 307C

Public health students are getting younger, and now often come to graduate school with limited “real world” experience. Activities for both in and out of the classroom can be designed to engage students in hands-on learning and to receive critical feedback for their growth. Opportunities to collaborate with group work can be structured to maximize the opportunity for students to engage deeply in their material, to experience and meet the challenges of working in diverse groups, and to bring out the best in each student. This workshop will highlight a number of different innovative activities that can be adapted for use in your teaching. The challenges – and delights!– of successful group work will also be addressed.

Lunch will be served. Please RSVP to rschadt@bu.edu reserve your seat.
