Congratulations to all BUSPH graduates! You did it. We are excited to celebrate this great achievement with you. We have anticipated your questions and would like to provide you with as much information as we can regarding all upcoming SPH commencement events. As commencement weekend approaches, graduates will receive additional and more specific information via email through our newsletter. Please check this webpage regularly for any upcoming updates.
BUSPH Commencement Events Schedule
Note to Graduates, Staff, and Faculty: Once registered, you will receive an email notification with a unique link to join the events. Please do not share with others. Family, friends, and loved ones are invited to register using dedicated guest links associated with each event provided below. Closed captioning will be available for all SPH commencement events.

The Multicultural Graduation Celebration is an event that honors the academic and leadership accomplishments of Boston University School of Public Health’s graduating underrepresented students. This celebration is hosted by the Students of Color for Public Health, Queer Alliance, and the International Students Organization. The ceremony features guest speakers and the presentation of a symbolic gift to the graduates. Virtual Celebration | Students, Staff, and Faculty Awardees Registration | Family and Friends Registration
The SPH Awards Ceremony is our annual celebration to recognize Faculty, Staff and Students who have made extraordinary contributions to the SPH community. The ceremony features special remarks for honorees, presentation of awards and/or certificates. This event is for invited award winners who will be notified by email prior to the ceremony. The full list of awards and nomination processes can be found on the Annual Awards page.
The SPH Convocation event will honor graduates with inspiring words from SPH deans, distinguished alumni and guests. This is the only event where student names will be called by Degree Programs. Regalia is not required for this event. If you would like to purchase regalia, visit the Caps, Gowns & Announcements page.
If you are unable to attend the live virtual SPH Convocation event on May 15th but would still like to receive your graduate gift be sure to provide your mailing address using the graduate gift mailing form by May 15th.
Invite friends and family to watch! All guests will be emailed the day of convocation with the link to stream the event live. The ceremony will be held from noon–1:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, May 15th.

Pre-recorded messages from Boston University leadership, faculty, and students to congratulate graduates on their success.
Graduates who have lifted their data restrictions will be contacted by a company by the name of Marching Order asking for you to upload a photo of yourself that will be used as a part of the SPH commencement send-off. If you would like to include a photo of you in your cap and gown, please make sure to order your regalia as soon as possible so you can upload your photo by Marching Order’s deadline. Marching order information will be shared once it is available on the BU Commencement Page. Please check your email/spam folders regularly so you don’t miss out on important deadlines.

In-person | BU Commencement Survey, due March 30.
We are asking January 2021, May 2021, and September 2021 degree candidates to complete a brief survey about whether they plan to attend the May in-person Commencement. Please respond by March 30.
School of Public Health Students who are eligible to graduate in January 2021, May 2021, and September 2021 are invited to the All University Commencement event happening in person on the Nickerson Field on Sunday, May 16, 2021. Commencement 2021 will be conducted with the University’s Back2BU health protocols that are currently in place and in accord with state and local travel policies. President Robert A. Brown announced plans for Commencement 2021 in a letter to the Boston University community. Regalia is required at this event. To purchase regalia, visit the Caps, Gowns & Announcements page.
