Our Campus Responds to COVID-19.

With students attending class remotely, the campus had none of the expected bustle of spring semester

The cafe in the Instructional Building lobby has closed until students return

For the safety of patients and staff, Boston Medical Center is moving some outpatient visits back to the Shapiro Building

Triage tents are set up outside the BMC Emergency Room to screen incoming patients

BMC is limiting curbside drop-off access to ambulances only

Community organizations are stepping up to help people in need

The empty intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Albany Street, usually a flurry of activity

Downtown Boston traffic, usually among the worst spots in the nation, was quiet just past the morning rush

Practicing physical distancing

Early spring flowers are making an appearance on campus
Over the past several weeks, the School of Public Health responded to the worldwide call for physical distancing to reduce transmission of the virus that causes COVID-19. Classes were moved to online instruction, and the school’s signature programs — including one assessing the state of current COVID-19 knowledge — were also changed to an online only format. Future events will also follow this format; the next event, on the overlooked scourge of tuberculosis, will be a worldwide Zoom Meeting webinar.
Despite the changes, the school continues to operate all of its core functions of research, teaching, and practice, with key staff handling student inquiries remotely and limited numbers of students and faculty using the libraries.
