Welcome Back to Campus!

Get ready for the fall semester. Whether you are returning or starting a new chapter, this page has everything you need to make your move-in smooth and stress-free.

Move-in date registration will open on August 1. Available move-in dates and arrival windows are listed below, allowing you to make travel arrangements in advance. Once the move-in scheduler opens, you will be able to select your preferred move-in appointment from the available options.

Undergraduate Orientation Students
Fall move-in will take place on Monday, August 24, 2026, and Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
Each day offers four appointment windows:

  • Group A: 8 am – 10 am
  • Group B: 10 am – 12 pm
  • Group C: 1 pm – 3 pm
  • Group D: 3 pm – 5 pm

Continuing Students
Fall move-in will take place from Friday, August 28, 2026 through Monday, August 31, 2026.
Each day offers two appointment windows:

  • Group A: 8 am – 12 pm
  • Group B: 1 pm – 5 pm

Students will be contacted to select an appointment date and time through the My Housing Portal. When the schedule becomes available, you will choose your preferred day and group.

You will have the duration of your assigned appointment window to complete your move-in, so plan to arrive as early as your time slot allows. Please note that you must have a confirmed appointment before arriving on campus.

How do I change my move-in appointment?

If you need to change your move-in day or time, log into the My Housing Portal, and cancel your original selection. You will be able to select a new appointment time.

    Who needs to check in?

Upon arrival, all students must go to their designated Move-in Location to officially check-in. Please do not begin to move-in until you have completed this critical step.

Before you arrive at your check-in location, you must sign in to the My Housing Portal on a mobile device and navigate to the Assignment History section. Prior to your appointment time, a QR code will be added on this page of the application, which you must show to a Residence Life staff member to check in. Please do not begin to move in until you have completed this critical step.

    Terrier Card

If you are a new student and you did not receive your BU Terrier Card during orientation, it will be available upon arrival at your check-in location. Previously you were invited to upload your photo to the Terrier Card Office so that your card could be ready on arrival. If you have not submitted your photo, please follow the instructions to upload your photo. For more information about picking up your Terrier Card, please visit the Terrier Card Pick-Up Instructions page.

    Summer Storage Return

If you placed personal belongings into the UPS Store summer storage program, your items will be available in designated areas near your check-in location. Please follow the posted signage to locate your storage return location.

    Parking

Students using moving trucks, vans, and box trucks should avoid the following roads: Storrow Drive and Soldiers Field Road in Boston and Memorial Drive in Cambridge. These roadways are restricted to “cars only” and have height restrictions as low as nine feet. These type of vehicles will exceed this height limit and will likely strike or become stuck under the overpasses.

Please download and print your temporary Move-In Parking Permit and display it on the dashboard of your vehicle when parked in approved BU parking locations (to be posted at a later date). Some of the approved parking lots may have a lowered parking gate. The QR code found on your permit can be scanned at entrance and exit kiosks to raise gates during your move-out period. You may also use your phone to capture the QR code for use when scanning to raise these gates, however, your permit must still be printed and displayed on the dashboard of your vehicle.

    Mail and Packages

If you plan to ship personal belongings (or your family plans to send you packages), schedule these items to arrive on, or after, the day you are scheduled to move in.

BU Dining Halls and Retail Operations

Information regarding dining services, including hours of service at four all you-care-to-eat dining rooms and over 20 on-campus eateries, can be found by visiting Dining Services.
