Technology Services

Who doesn’t love free stuff? One of the benefits of campus living is access to built-in technology services in your residence, including Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections. Below is an overview of the technology amenities available to students living on campus.

Wireless Network

BU provides secure, encrypted wireless access throughout most residences and across campus. Students can connect to the eduroam network using their BU credentials.

For information about connecting to Wi-Fi, troubleshooting, and wireless coverage, visit BU IS&T’s Wireless Network page.

Ethernet/ResNet

In addition to Wi-Fi, residence hall rooms have wired Ethernet connections through ResNet. Ethernet can be especially useful for devices that do not support eduroam or when a wired connection is preferred.

Learn more about connecting to the residential network through BU IS&T’s Get Connected guide. Students should bring an Ethernet cable if they plan to use a wired connection.

Technology Help & Support

Need help getting connected? The BU IT Help Center can assist with Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and other technology issues. Visit BU IT Help Center for support options, hours, and contact information.

Telephones

Resident students may still arrange for individual telephone service in their rooms. Telephone sets are not provided. Students interested in local telephone service should review BU IS&T’s Local Telephone Service for Students for current service options and instructions.
