- T&F: Tuition & Fees
The books and supplies stipend pays $41.67 per credit certified, up to 24 credits for the academic year (08/01/YY-07/31/YY). The start date of an enrollment period determines the academic year the enrollment period belongs to. The maximum stipend is $1,000 per academic year.
Recommendations:
- Apply early for your benefit. Without proof of benefit, no money can transfer.
- Housing allowance pays on the first of each month, but on the month after. For example, 30 days of school in October will be paid straight to the student’s checking account on November 1st. Housing payments accumulate late, whereas BU expects to be paid upfront. We recommend the student apply for financial aid to cover the time between when the semester begins and when the student will receive VA money. We also recommend a monthly payment plan due to the VA payments being monthly instead of cumulative.
- Yellow Ribbon Program applications are available in March only of each year. This will add $7k to the overall tuition and fees payments. YRP information is available here: https://www.bu.edu/reg/students/veterans-services/yrp/

Rate of Usage:
- 4 years of full-time, Post 9/11 Benefit is used by 29 months and 2 days, if only Fall & Spring semesters attended
- 3years of full-time, Post 9/11 Benefit us used up by 30 months and 6 days, if Fall, Spring, & Summers are attended
- Calculated using: Rate of Pursuit x days if training
- Rate of Pursuit = # of credits/ # full time credits
- 12/12 = 100% Rate of pursuit
- 6/12 = 50% Rate of pursuit
- 8/12 = 66 % Rate of pursuit
- Number is not rounded as it is for MHA. Days of Training are when a student is certified by the School Certifying Official for being in class.
- Example: Fall 2015, September 2-December 19
- All months are calculated as 30 day months, inclusive
- Total 108 days ( Student using 108 days at 12/12 will lose 108/30 days *100%)
- Equals 3 months and 18 days
- 36 months minus 3 months and 18 days = 32 months, 12 days left ( Student using 108 days at 8/12 will lose 108 days *66%)
- Equals 71.28 days, 71 days rounded, or 2 months, and 11 days
- 36 months minus 2 months and 11 days = 33 months, 19 days left
- Equals 3 months and 18 days
- Rate of Pursuit = # of credits/ # full time credits
- Calculated using: Rate of Pursuit x days if training
