My first job out of college was working as a resource specialist in the social work department at a large Boston hospital. I provided cancer center patients with transportation, lodging, and support group resources to help them access their care, and was also consulted by social workers for other concrete resources like public benefits, financial assistance, food resources, and more. I craved the ability to connect with my patients on a clinical level, to address their psychosocial needs, which were visibly exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of this, I decided to pursue an MSW degree. I chose BUSSW because of the well-rounded curriculum, the opportunity to learn from specialists in the field and the great reputation BUSSW has in the Boston area and beyond. As an undergraduate terrier, I also jumped at the chance to earn an additional BU degree. The Clinical Practice major lays the foundation needed for clinical practice, provides introductions to macro practice, and offers a variety of elective options to tailor your coursework to your interests. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, exploring my neighborhood, and trying new recipes.
