Biography
My current research focuses on quantifying health effects from heat, and my doctoral research examined the environmental and occupational causes, including heat, pesticides, and metals, of chronic kidney disease of uncertain etiology (CKDu) in workers in Central America. My research goal is to use epidemiological and exposure science to identify opportunities for prevention. My work combines environmental epidemiology, exposure assessment, and community-engaged research, and I am passionate about translating research findings into meaningful interventions and policy.
Before my doctorate, I worked at the Silent Spring Institute studying environmental chemical exposures and their effects on human health, with a focus on breast cancer. I have published and presented my research internationally, and I am committed to communicating environmental health science to researchers, workers, communities, policymakers, and the broader public.
