Please Support ‘Finish the Race’ on Thursday, May 2.
Colleagues:
The School of Public Health is sponsoring the “Finish the Race” walk on Thursday, May 2 and we invite students, staff, faculty, and community members from across the entire medical campus and local community to participate.
“Finish the Race” is a tribute to the affected runners and spectators, and an expression of solidarity with everyone in Boston and neighboring communities who intend to move forward, past the horrific events during and after the race.
The event is a one-mile walk that starts at 11:30 am on the Talbot Green in front of the Talbot Building. We will walk down Albany Street and return up Harrison Avenue to the Talbot Green. Starting at 11:00 am, the first 300 participants will receive a “Finish the Race” t-shirt and we encourage everyone to wear red as a sign of solidarity. At the finish line, participants will have a chance to sign a greeting card for BMC patients still recovering from injuries suffered at the marathon.
BUSPH students Tom Fitzgerald and Natalie Kratz will lead the walk. Tom ran in the marathon but had to stop at mile 25 of the race and did not get a chance to complete the course. Natalie finished the marathon.
The event is free and open to the BUMC community, but pre-registration is recommended. (http://busphfinishtherace.eventbrite.com).
Please come and show solidarity with Tom, Natalie, our school, and our community.
