MPH 2015 Task Force Seeks Input; Submit Proposals on New Microsite Until April 5.

A message from Lisa Sullivan, associate dean for education: The MPH 2015 Task Force was charged by the Governing Council to ensure that BUSPH has an innovative, competitive and successful MPH program within the evolving environment for public health.

Specifically, the MPH program must have the following characteristics:

• Effective: the degree program must effectively provide graduates with the knowledge and skill sets that they will need for successful employment
• Marketable: the degree program must compete successfully in an increasingly competitive market for prospective students as well as communicate our graduates’ skills to employers
• Efficient: the degree program must deploy faculty, physical and other resources in an efficient manner
• Adaptable: the degree program must be sufficiently flexible to evolve regularly as employer/market needs evolve, while at the same time not constantly chasing trends, and must also allow for additional growth in enrollments beyond the current numbers
• Strategic: the degree program should fit into the larger context of other educational programs currently offered or which might be offered

The Task Force and five working groups discussing various aspects of our program including the core, concentrations, the practicum, the culminating experience, and effective teaching and assessment have been meeting regularly to brainstorm and generate proposals for revisions, re-design, etc. These proposals, as well as proposals from other BUSPH community members, have been posted to a new microsite, http://sph.bu.edu/MPH2015.

The process is meant to be inclusive and we want to hear from you! The input from ALL faculty, staff, students, and alumni is essential to the work of the MPH 2015 Task Force. Please take a moment to review and comment on the proposals posted on the website. Comments can be submitted anonymously via the website or via email. Additional proposals will be accepted until April 5, 2013. Comments on proposals will be accepted until April 15, 2013.
