Internet Methods Conference in Wales.
A two-day conference on internet methods in epidemiology is being held at the University of Cardiff, Wales on April 17 – 18, 2012. The conference is being jointly organized by the Universities of Cardiff, Boston, Swansea, and Aarhus, Denmark.
All scientists with an interest in using internet-based methods in human studies are encouraged to attend. The purpose of the conference is to bring together scientists who share an interest in the field of ‘e-epidemiology’ to exchange ideas, discuss current-day challenges, and provide updates from studies that have used or are using ‘e-epi’ methods. This includes any epidemiologic or clinical studies using internet-based methods for recruitment, enrollment and follow-up, or studies which have a web-based or mobile device-based data collection component.
The keynote address “The remote conduct of large scale studies” will be delivered by Professor Sir Richard Peto, Professor of Medical Statistics and Epidemiology at the University of Oxford. Other topics to be discussed include study design, population sampling, measurement of bio-specimens, gene environment interaction studies, ethics and cost effectiveness in addition to updates from several internet based studies. Abstract submissions are now being accepted (the abstract deadline will likely be extended to mid to late February). Further information is available on the conference website:
