Dear colleagues,

As you may know, two holidays are coming up at the start of the semester. Rosh Hashanah will begin Monday, September 22nd at sundown and ends after nightfall on Wednesday, September 24th.  Yom Kippur, will begin Wednesday, October 1st before sunset and ends after nightfall on Thursday, October 2nd.

Individuals observing Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur may require accommodations for class during the dates listed to observe activities for one or both holidays. In order to accommodate SPH students observing these holidays, we request faculty work with students on potential extensions and opportunities to make up exams or classwork.

Individuals observing Yom Kippur may be fasting from food and drink for the holiday. We ask that instructors be mindful of this and allow for breaks as needed.

Students are encouraged to reach out to faculty with individual requests/accommodations. Faculty may refer to the Boston University Policy on Religious Observance in determining how to provide accommodation if requested.
