About the Office of the Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs
The Office of the Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs oversees management of a variety of faculty services, including review and approval of initial hires, faculty payroll and the annual merit review/salary increase process, analysis of faculty data, coordination of the tenure and promotion process, and oversight of the faculty search process.

Faculty & Staff Assistance Office
About the Faculty & Staff Assistance Office
The Faculty & Staff Assistance Office is Boston University’s employee assistance program. Its staff of licensed behavioral health provide assessment, short-term counseling, and referrals to help resolve a range of personal and work-related challenges. The FSAO also offers programs and resources to promote mental well-being and resilience such as anonymous online mental health screenings and the meditation app, Headspace. FSAO services are confidential and available at no charge to BU faculty, staff, and their immediate family members. The office is open Monday-Friday between 9 and 5 with appointments available virtually and in person on both the Charles River and Medical campuses.

Faculty Council
About Faculty Council
The Faculty Council is the elected representative body for faculty at Boston University. Each school and college elects at least one representative and one alternate to serve on the council. The Faculty Council is an open forum in which the policies and activities of the University are discussed. It meets once per month during the academic year.

Graduate Affairs
About the Office of the Associate Provost for Graduate Affairs
The Associate Provost for Graduate Affairs provides leadership for the University’s graduate education initiatives, working closely with the Provost and the Deans to articulate an institutional voice and promote continued excellence in graduate education. Central to these efforts are supporting interdisciplinary and co-curricular education and research, working to increase interdisciplinary and professional development opportunities for BU’s 13,000 graduate students, and nurturing new collaborations between the Charles River campus and Medical Center campus graduate programs.

About the Office of the Ombuds
The Office of the Ombuds is an independent, impartial, informal problem-solving resource serving faculty, staff, and students on the Charles River and Medical Campus. The Office maintains strict confidentiality, and provides a safe place for you to have off-the-record conversations on issues related to life, work, or study at Boston University. Talking to the Ombuds can be a good first step if you have a concern and you don’t know where to turn for help.
