Rhodes Scholars

The Rhodes Scholarship, named for British businessman and philanthropist, Cecil John Rhodes, is an international postgraduate award for selected foreign students to study at the University of Oxford. Established in 1902, it is widely regarded as the most prestigious academic scholarship in the world.

Fulbright Scholars

Fulbright Scholars

The Fulbright Scholar Program, a program of the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, presents some of the most prestigious research opportunities faculty around the world can receive. The program, which awards approximately 800 teaching and/or research grants annually, allows faculty members to take courses, teach, or perform research abroad in some of the world’s finest institutions. The following Boston University faculty are current or previous Fulbright Scholars.

Poet Laureates

The Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress serves as the nation’s official poet. During his or her term, the Poet Laureate seeks to raise the national consciousness to a greater appreciation of the reading and writing of poetry. The Poet Laureate is appointed annually by the Librarian of Congress and serves from September to May.

Presidential Award Winners

The Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers is the highest honor bestowed by the United States government on scientists and engineers in the early stages of their independent research careers. The White House, following recommendations from participating agencies, confers the awards annually.
