Faculty

The Office of the Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs has as its mission to operationalize the Faculty Handbook’s standards and procedures for faculty-related matters, advancing academic excellence, and increasing faculty diversity. In service of that mission, the Office manages the central review of Charles River Campus faculty personnel actions such as search proposals, appointments, reappointments, tenure/promotions, merit and equity salary reviews, and retirements.

Faculty Affairs partners with administrative units, including the offices of Human Resources, Research, Institutional Research, Budget, Labor Relations, and others to 1) provide administrative guidance to Charles River Campus (CRC) academic unit leadership, 2) deliver faculty data and strategic support to the University Provost and President, and 3) ensure data integrity through centralized management of CRC faculty data.

The Associate Provost and the Office’s staff also serve on and/or oversee the following groups— the University Appointments, Promotion, and Tenure Committee (UAPT); the University Council Committee on Faculty Policies (UFFCP); the Faculty Affairs Council (FAC); the Faculty Grievance Committee; and Faculty Suspension and Termination Hearing Committees.
