Pardee Center Concludes “The Future of…” Webinar Series

On April 22, 2021, the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future, an affiliated center at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, hosted the third webinar in its Spring 2021 “The Future of…” series, exploring the future of the digital economy. Previous webinars in the series explored the future of global climate change and the future of the university

The webinar featured Azer Bestavros, Associate Provost for Computing & Data Sciences, BU; Robin R. Murphy, Professor of Computer Science & Engineering, Texas A&M University; and Nicol Turner Lee, Director, Center for Technology Innovation, Brookings Institution. The panel was moderated by Adil Najam, Dean of the Pardee School.

During the event, panelists discussed the future of the digital and robotics industry, how the digital future has progressed, how technology has impacted people’s lives in the COVID-19 pandemic, and how this technology could lead to greater societal inequities.
