Prof. Copeland Shares Antiracist Education Expertise at International Conference

Phillipe Copeland
Clinical Assistant Professor Phillipe Copeland, Boston University School of Social Work

Prof. Phillipe Copeland from BU School of Social Work recently gave a digital presentation on antiracist education at the international conference, “Literacies and Educational Changes: Rediscussing Digital Learning, Neoliberalism, and Post-Pandemic Policies” in São Paulo, Brazil. Sharing his expertise internationally is an important step in addressing racism on a global scale.

“Racism is an international, criminal conspiracy and has been since its inception,” Copeland explains. “Its roots are older and reach deeper than the existence of the United States. We are also living and dying through yet another cycle of white backlash that transcends borders; antiracist education, resistance, and change must do the same.” His talk, “Competency-Based Antiracist Education (CARE)” provides a formula for educators and institutions to follow to deliver antiracist education.
