9/13/21 – 1/31/22: Registration Open for “Interprofessional Leadership in Healthcare” Online Certification

BU School of Social Work (BUSSW) and Sargent College have opened registration for their joint online certificate “Interprofessional Leadership in Health Care.” The new program, developed through a partnership between Sargent College and BU School of Social Work, with support from BU Digital Learning and Innovation, will improve health care outcomes for people everywhere, and includes five courses over five months to prepare healthcare professionals for leadership roles on cross-professional teams. Courses will be facilitated by BU alumni mentors from BUSSW, Sargent, the School of Medicine and the School of Public Health with clinical backgrounds in a range of professions from occupational therapy, to social work and speech language pathology.

The new program was spearheaded by project leaders at Sargent College and BUSSW, including Research Assistant Professor Bronwyn Keefe, director of BUSSW’s Center for Aging & Disability Education & Research (CADER) and The Network for Professional Education, and Sargent College’s Karen Jacobs and Craig Slater.

To receive certification, participants must complete all five courses:

  • The Interprofessional Team
  • Effective Communication
  • Effective Supervision
  • Leadership of Interprofessional Teams
  • Building Business Acumen
