We are delighted to be hosting Dr. Cori Ruktanonchai, Collegiate Assistant Professor in Population Health Sciences at Virginia Tech, as part of the Department of Epidemiology Seminar series. Dr. Ruktanonchai's research interests involve quantifying and mapping when, where, and why health and socioeconomic inequities occur, particularly in rural areas, where spatial disparities can be especially stark. She has over a decade of teaching and supervisory experience, ranging from high school students and undergraduates to graduate students, and has led or contributed to a variety of epidemiology & health courses, including Epidemiologic Concepts of Health and Disease, Equity in Rural Health, Introduction to Public Health, Global Health, Population and Reproductive Health, Environmental Health, and more. Dr. Ruktanonchai’s work is informed by a multidisciplinary background grounded in an MPH degree with a concentration in Epidemiology from the University of Florida, followed by an interdisciplinary PhD program in Geography and Social Statistics through the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom.
