This message highlights both the resources available in times of challenge and the benefits that support faculty and staff.

Resources in Case of Emergencies or Concerns

  1. Public Safety/Medical Emergencies: Boston University Police Department/Public Safety can be reached at 617-358-4444. For critical emergencies, call 911 first, then BU Police.
  2. Facilities Issues: For breakdowns or hazardous spills, call 617-358-4144. For non-urgent issues, contact Michael Koehler, Director of Facilities and Building Operations, atmkoehler@bu.edu or 617-358-8370.
  3. Health Services: Students may contact Student Health Services at 617-353-3575 (881 Commonwealth Ave). Employees may contact Occupational Health at 617-353-6630 (930 Commonwealth Ave, #1200).
  4. Ombuds Office: Offers confidential, impartial support for faculty and students. Located at 85 East Newton Street, Suite 818, reachable at 617-358-7645 orombuds@bu.edu.
  5. Title IX Concerns: For issues related to sex discrimination or sexual misconduct, contact our Title IX coordinator, Ira Lazic (iralazic@bu.edu). An online incident report form is also available.
  6. Equal Opportunity Concerns: For unlawful discrimination or harassment, contact the Equal Opportunity Office. At SPH, Ira Lazic also serves as the EOO Coordinator (iralazic@bu.edu).

The University’s holiday and intersession schedule is announced annually by the VP of HR and available at bu.edu/calendar/holidays. Where business operations permit, early closing (1 PM) may occur the business day prior to Memorial Day, Labor Day, Independence Day, and Thanksgiving.
