CSE Hosts Event on EU Climate Change Politics and Policy
On February 25, 2021, the Center for the Study of Europe (CSE), an affiliated center of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, hosted a virtual lecture on climate change governance within the European Union (EU), how it works, and the goals and policy instruments that the EU has at its disposal.
The lecture featured remarks from Henrik Selin, Associate Professor of International Relations and Associate Dean for Studies at the Pardee School, and Miriam Allena, Associate Professor of Administrative Law at Bocconi University School of Law. The event was moderated Daniela Caruso, Professor of Law and Director of BU’s Center for the Study of Europe.
In his remarks, Selin discussed the EU’s climate action progress, the Green Deal, and the challenges the EU faces moving forward. In her response, Allena talked about the European Green Deal as well as the need for a new industrial policy and new governance paradigm if the EU is serious about reaching its audacious climate goals.
