Heine Discusses COVID Vaccine Arrival in Chile

Ambassador Jorge Heine, Research Professor at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, published an op-ed in Global Times discussing the arrival of Chinese COVID-19 vaccines in Chile last week.

In the article, titled “Chinese vaccines arrive in Chile in the nick of time,” Heine discussed the Latin American response to COVID-19, which has been underpinned by denialism and political opportunism. Latin America has been particularly hard hit by the pandemic, and Heine said that the regional response has also showcased a complete lack of regional cooperation and coordination. He hopes that the arrival of vaccines in Chile will allow the country to pull through this difficult period with renewed vigor.
