Weinstein Discusses Space Force & Cybersecurity with BU Alumni
On Tuesday, January 19, 2021, Lt Gen Jack Weinstein, USAF (Ret), Professor of the Practice of International Security at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies, moderated a discussion with Lt. Gen. B. Chance Saltzman (CAS ’91) on the Space Force’s involvement in a variety of capacities in the US Military, including operations, intelligence, sustainment, cybersecurity, and nuclear operations. The event was hosted by the Boston University (BU) Alumni Association.
Lt. General Saltzman currently serves as Deputy Chief of Space Operations for Operations, Cyber, and Nuclear for the United States Space Force. Having previously served as Deputy Commander of the U.S. Air Force Central Command, and currently based at the Pentagon, Lt. Gen. Saltzman gave insight into how the newly formed Space Force works within the U.S. Military landscape and how they work across departments at the Pentagon.

Jack Weinstein, Lieutenant General, USAF (Ret), served in the U. S. Air Force from 1982 to 2018. Prior to arriving at the Pardee School of Global Studies, he was the Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategic Deterrence and Nuclear Integration, Headquarters United States Air Force, the Pentagon. In this position, he was responsible to the Secretary and Chief of Staff on all aspects of nuclear deterrence operations providing direction, guidance, integration and advocacy regarding the nuclear deterrence mission of the U.S. Air Force and engaged with joint, interagency and NATO for nuclear enterprise solutions.
