Pardee Works: Working in National Security

The Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University hosted a March 19, 2019 talk with Andrew May, Associate Director of the Office of Net Assessment with the Office of the Secretary of Defense at the Defense Department. The talk was held as part of the school’s Pardee Works series. 

The talk, entitled “Working in National Security: Defense Department Civilian Careers,” was moderated by Joshua Shifrinson, Pardee School Assistant Professor of International Relations.

The discussion covered a range of topics related to the national security and defense industries including working at the Department of Defense as well as working with Washington think tanks, NGOs, and the academic community on defense issues. 

The Pardee Works series focuses on bringing professionals currently working in the diverse field of global studies to present for and network with Pardee School students. In addition to the annual Pardee Works career symposium, recent Pardee Works talks have covered topics including women in U.S. national security,  career opportunities at the CIA and DIAcareers with the U.S. Department of Commerce, and careers in the Foreign Service
