MENA Hosts a Middle East Feast
The Middle East and North Africa program at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston Univeristy hosted a Middle East Feast on October 20, 2014, that attracted more than 100 studnts and many faculty to an evening of delicious food, good conversation, and lots of useful information about the program and its offerings.
Students and faculty gathered at BU Central to learn about and celebrate the program on Monday evening. The event featured delicious Middle Eastern food (including a homemade Iranian dessert prepared by MLCL Persian-language lecturer Soheila Ayouboff), music by Matti Kovler with Iranian, Syrian, and Israeli performers from the Berklee School of Music, a performance by BU a capella group Kol Echad, and a presentation of the MENA major requirements, spring 2015 courses, upcoming MENA events, and BU study abroad options in Rabat, Haifa, and Istanbul.
MENA is the newest undergraduate major now being offered by the Pardee School of global studies and has attracted a lot of student interest. Margaret Litvin, the Director of the MENA program convieved the event to disseminate more information on the program to students and to bring those interested in Middle East and North African studies together.
