Rabat, Morocco

Round up the usual “Casablanca”-esque stereotypes you might have of this North African country and leave them at home. Rabat is one of those cities where multiple cultural influences have converged over the centuries to create a rich, frothy, dynamic mix, one that defies a soundbite characterization.

Students are required to take an Arabic language course and get a lot of opportunity to use it outside the classroom, especially in the local family households where students are housed. Excursions include visits around the medina as well as to other Moroccan cities.

Students in Rabat report receiving wonderful support in the classroom and in their family homes as they experience this incredible “un-Western” capital city on the Atlantic coast.
