For Mentorship, Commitment to Cause, Pair of MET Community Members Honored by Innovate@BU
Two members of the Metropolitan College community were honored Thursday, April 27, at Innovator’s Night, the annual event hosted by Innovate@BU that sees BU students pitch entrepreneurial ventures for seed funding.
Lecturer Wendy Swart Grossman, who teaches courses like Creative Startups: From Idea to Impact (MET AR 789) as part of BU MET’s MS in Arts Administration program, won the Henry Morgan Award, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to innovation, particularly as Innovate@BU’s creative practitioner-in-residence.
Receiving the inaugural Mentor of the Year Award was Cynthia Cohen (MET’77), vice chair of the BU Board of Trustees and a longtime member of the MET Dean’s Advisory Board.
The founder and chief strategist of IMPACT 2040, a firm dedicated to developing innovative start-ups and emerging-growth companies, Cohen earned her BASc in Business Administration at MET (the predecessor to the BS in Management Studies).
Cohen is committed to mentoring young women pursuing careers in business and entrepreneurship. The Cynthia Cohen Scholarship Fund supports women students studying at the Questrom School of Business. She received the MET Distinguished Alumni Award for Service to Alma Mater in 2020.
BU MET applauds the recognition of these two standout members of its community and their significant accomplishments.
