Hariri Institute Fellows Participate in Data Science Conference in Santa Fe, NM

Two Hariri Institute Fellows spoke at the Data Science Leadership Summit in Santa Fe, NM this past week. The conference covered new data science initiatives being created at institutions to form academic communities for data science. Information was shared amongst data science colleagues including best practices, similar challenges faced and future opportunities to advance the data science initiatives.

Eric Kolaczyk, Professor, Math & Statistics, CAS and Hariri Institute for Computing Steering Committee member and Data Science Faculty Fellow was a keynote speaker who spoke about the “National Academy of Sciences Data Science Education Roundtable” and shared 3 years of findings. On the second day, Elaine Nsoesie, Assistant Professor, Global Health, CAS and Data Science Faculty Fellow, spoke about “End-to-End Data Science.” Also, Azer Bestavros, Founding Director of the BU Hariri Institute for Computing and Professor of Computer Science participated as a conference advisory board member and Margrit Betke, Professor, Computer Science, CAS, and Data Science Faculty Fellow was a conference program chair.
