SERT Groups

We believe that it is important to attend to multiple areas of our client’s lives, including their religious and spiritual beliefs if they believe that will be helpful for treatment. Spiritual, Existential, Religious, and Theological (SERT) Groups are one way that the Danielsen Institute works to help senior staff and therapists in training become more culturally humble, and able to engage clients in conversation around religion and spirituality.

Staff psychologists from the Danielsen Institute have shared what we have done creating SERT groups with several mental health clinics across the USA. Following these trainings we surveyed participants to more fully understand how they view SERT groups, their implementation, and how this relates to their humility and differentiation.
