Uncover the science behind human behavior. As a Psychology major, you'll take courses in perception, learning, and cognition, as well as developmental, personality, social, and abnormal psychology. You'll also have the opportunity to do directed research under the supervision of a faculty member on topics ranging from childhood development to autism to substance abuse.

Sociology is the major to explore if you’re curious about the social causes and consequences of human behavior. BU offers the opportunity to explore a variety of sociological concentrations, from medical sociology to urban sociology, global social relations, or gender inequality. You can also perform research with a professor through the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP). Sociology students may study abroad and fully immerse yourself in the history, culture, and social policies of a new country. The critical-thinking skills and broad theoretical knowledge you’ll gain through this program will prepare you for many different career paths, from medicine and law to social work, education, or policy administration.

A strong foundation of coursework is complemented by electives in networks, theory, data mining and data analytics, artificial intelligence, operating systems, media computing, and security/cryptography. Interested in how you can make a difference in global public health? Health Science is the perfect fit for students who wish to pursue a career in medicine, nursing, physician assistant training, or physical therapy. You will take courses ranging from biology to psychology, epidemiology, medical ethics, and more. In your senior year, you will complete a practicum experience in an area of your interest either in Boston or abroad. Students registered in this program who meet GPA requirements are eligible to apply for the accelerated five-year Bachelor of Science and Master of Public Health degree (BS/MPH), offered in conjunction with Boston University School of Public Health.

Our studio-driven approach to design thinking and visual communication will prepare you to thrive both artistically and professionally. You will hone your skills as a graphic artist through a sequence of core graphic design and typography classes, complimented by elective courses that allow you to specialize in areas of interest. Partnerships with area businesses and design firms help undergraduates to navigate the professional world, leading to internships and employment.

If you’ve always wanted to share your story with the world, then the journalism major could be right for you. In studying the history and ethics of journalism, you’ll learn to write, report, edit, and produce work at its highest level. You also will develop a core understanding of professional journalism as it relates to deadlines, interviewing, research, and innovation in the field. Take the opportunity to write for student-run newspaper, the Daily Free Press, or BU Today. Senior journalism students can also expand their journalism experience and skills by spending a semester in Washington, D.C., at the The Washington Journalism Center. Students are encouraged to take courses in areas outside of their major to augment their academic experience. Minors or dual degrees in other BU schools and colleges, while not required, are strongly recommended.

Produce cutting-edge research and inform policy-making through Questrom’s accounting concentration in the Business Administration major. In this program, students gain the necessary financial knowledge and skills to exercise ethical organizational leadership and sound decision-making to be prepared to succeed in the world of business. You can even join the Accounting Association, which works to bridge the gap between the academic and professional worlds by connecting students to accounting professionals.
