Boston University Transcripts for Students and Alumni of Boston University

If you are anticipating any updates to your transcript, such as end of semester grades, grades being changed, degrees being posted, an update to your name, etc., please check your transcript preview to ensure that the change has been made before you request your transcript.  Due to the automated nature of our transcript request process, we are unable to hold requests until the changes are made.

Following the guidelines of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, your Boston University transcript provides a comprehensive academic record that reflects all BU academic coursework completed, degrees awarded, and credit earned by examination, as well as credit for courses that were transferred from other institutions.  Official Boston University transcripts may be ordered online for electronic or paper delivery through Parchment, BU’s transcript partner; except LAWMED/MD program, and SDM transcripts which may be ordered through the Registrar’s Office of those schools.  Please allow 5-7 business days for the processing of transcript requests.

Current BU students: Please review your transcript preview before requesting your transcript.  The transcripts produced by our vendor will contain the exact information that you see in your transcript preview.

Unofficial transcripts can be viewed in MyBU Student via the View Unofficial Transcript page. This page is also available for Boston University alumni who need to view or print unofficial transcripts.

If you are a prospective graduate, your degree award will print on your transcript on/after your degree conferral date.

View Grades & GPA for an explanation of BU’s grading scale; grades for courses taken at other institutions are not listed on your BU transcript, and are provided by the institution at which those courses were completed.  Grades for courses taken at other institutions are not calculated into a student’s Boston University GPA.

Boston University transcripts include a cumulative GPA reflective of a student’s entire academic record.  A BU transcript cannot be separated to exclusively display either undergraduate or graduate work.  It can also not be amended to display a major GPA or a cumulative GPA excluding non-degree coursework.

Official transcripts for all schools (except LAWMED/MD program, and SDM) are produced by the Office of the University Registrar, and can only be requested by the student of record (requests from any third party will not be accepted).  Transcripts for GMS students are produced by the Office of the University Registrar.

Beginning July 1, 2026, Parchment will require email verification for both new and returning users. Students will be prompted to check the email address associated with their Parchment account and enter the authentication code provided. Each code is valid for one session only, and users will be asked to complete multi-factor authentication in future sessions.

Why this matters:

This extra step significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access to your academic records. By confirming your identity at login, we make sure only you can view, request, or share your credentials.
Students who access Parchment through Single Sign-On via the MyBU Student Portal will not be prompted to complete this additional authentication step because their identity has already been verified through MyBU.

If a student does not receive the authentication email, they should first check their spam or junk folder, add Parchment to their safe senders list, and confirm that the email address on their account is current and accessible.

Students who cannot complete the email verification step will not be able to access their Parchment account. Boston University cannot override this authentication requirement or access Parchment credentials on a student’s behalf.

Students who still need assistance should contact Parchment Customer Support learnersupport@parchment.com or visit the Parchment Help Center https://instructure.my.site.com/learnerhelpcenter/s/ for manual verification and account support. If a student no longer has access to the email address tied to their Parchment account, they may need to create a new account using an email address they can access.
